My friend who lives over the road from me really got me annoyed one day. She knows about my beliefs and everything, she brought over a book of 4 bible stories for my son, because she thought that he should have things like that, because it doesn't happen in this house, well words to that effect. It was what she was suggesting that got me, she knows about my beliefs and all, but it was the way it was said. People do tend to judge, and it is difficult to ignore things that hurt you. You are a stronger person though if you do ignore all the horrible things that are said.

Jenny,

my way of dealing with people who have a different view on spiritulism than i do is to say to them you believe in what you want i will believe in what i know is right for me, it usually stumps them they dont know what to say ,
my nain always used to say i dont go to church or chapel but i say a prayer wherever i am, that makes me a christian, and she used to say I believe in god and he believes in me,and thats all that matters.

take care

Jenny, yes sadly I have come across those that feel that spiritualism is something bad to practise. Funnily enough, I was only thinking about this the other day after reading a post on another board about someone feeling guilty that they'd visitied a medium and were blaming their negative feelings around themselves on this poor Medium! Didn't help when they got a reply that being psychic and prayer didn't go together... almost implying that it served them right! Ahem, I was actually up in arms about this and in the end had to stop myself replying... although I still keep going back to the post wanting to write something, but know only too well, that I would be wasting my time!

Anyway, after this, I actually began doing a bit of research. Despite always considering myself a Christian, I didn't realise quite how much Christianity was against spiritualism, but would explain the negativity that I have received from some, when I have told them about my experiences. But I've found this quite ironic, because my own spiritualist experiences have actually given me a greater belief than I had before. But I will hold my hands up high and openly admit that the only bible stories that I really know are those taught to me, as a child. So although I've always considered myself a Christian, I guess, I don't know the full teachings of Christianity.

I've tried doing a little research into this from looking online, so will outline what I have found for anyone interested in reading more. Most anti-spiritualism seems to come from the Old Testament - in Leviticus and Deuteronomy apparently there is quite a bit about staying away from fortune tellers, diviners, enchanters, wizards and sorcerers, due to God's fear that people would become more on them, rather than Him. But also apparently, much evidence in the New Testament that supports the gift of prophecy, whereby one needs to be psychic to be able to hear spirit, communicate with them or see visions. Corinthians in the Bible, is one place where this is shown apparently. The problems seem to come from most Christian religions focusing on the negative teachings from the Old Testament whereby they clump together fortune tellers and the like, with psychics and Mediums. Hmm... possibly a lack of understanding?

GL, I too consider that Jesus, was a healer, psychic and medium. Hmm, I guess he was doomed from the start and seen as a threat to society, as spiritualism is often regarded today. Of course we could debate on this for eternity... and as psychics, Mediums, Healers, etc... still not manage to convince others of our purpose in life.

In search of explanations, as to why I was suddenly shown spiritualism and the awakening of gifts, I have asked many questions. Ok, my answers in the main have come from others who've had spiritual experiences too, but many have told me that we are chosen in life, given gifts from God. Hmm, do I really believe that...? I don't know - in a way, I would like to think that I do. One theory I've thought about myself is that maybe we are God's "Earth Angels" or something, our mission in life to continue his work through showing the existence of a spiritual truth. One thing I do now think is that for those of us who have abilities, in the main unselfishly we share with others who ask for our assistance. But, I feel that many are blinkered by fear of the unknown and lack of understanding.

Hmm, I could go on and on and on... sorry, I already have! But will just finish by saying that I too believe that many religions worship "God", another deity or master teacher. I too, regard that they are praying to spiritual energy - interesting to know how others see their "deities". Perhaps next time, someone tries to condemn our own beliefs, we can remind them of that.

Anyway, hope I didn't send you all to sleep, go off topic. Such a difficult thing to write about, didn't want it sounding preachy or anything, so I hope that all this made some sense!

Hello everyone

I had a phone call this afternoon asking if i would do a favour for my aunt, i said i would when i went to deliver the message to my dad that she wanted me to pass on, there ws a man that i had never seen before sitting there i had heard my dad speak of him because my dad was helping this man with a problem, that he had with the community council.( my dad is a councellor ).

the first thing this man said to me is Iam a jehovas witness, so i said thats allright as long as you dont try to convert me because you have got no chance,he then went to say something about spirits, so i told him i was a psychic medium.

well i was told i was evil the child of satan and something else, i was not going to take that so i told him to keep to what he believed in and i would get on with what i believed in,
he told me i was doing the devils work ,so i turned to him and said you should know because you are the devil.he looked at my dad and said im not going to get anywhere with her am i . my dad said you have got no chance,
with that he left he said somethng else so i told him to keep muttering to himself because what he said only made sense to himself,
the cheek of the man my dad told m later that he had only been a jehovas for about 3 years, his wife of 33 years gave him an ultimatum jehovas or her , guess which he choose.

take care

I live in the bible belt here in the usa and the christians here are very brainwashed and they cannot go out of their religion for fear of burning in hell for eternity
they really arent a bad lot they just live their lives based on fear
which is really sad
